Side yard almost done

Remember the slushy, muddy space down the side of our house? And how my husband and dad had to dig and re-dig to put in drainage? Arggg!

Anyways, it's now doing fine! The drainage survived the heavy rain and storms before Christmas and I even put in some plants along the retaining wall to pretty up the area.
Next step- pebbles to go on top and cut the drains to correct height.

These will eventually spread and fill in the garden space more thickly.

Love the colour!

Down the track, I'd like to put a merbau timber screen on the fence outside the bathroom window and hang a wall art for a nice outlook from the bathroom. But for now, it's a better sight than the weeds and mud that used to be there!

  1. Fiona, its so nice to hear from you again, its been way too long! Boy oh boy have you been a busy little beaver and the nest you've created is stunning. Well done on your colour scheme it looks fabulous and goes well together. Love what you plan to do outside the bathroom window, it was certainly a must to do with ours too esp since we have a bath in the ensuite and looking at a dull fence was not my idea of a relaxing!
The retaining wall is going to be great when its finished, no doubt thanks to dad!!!
Tell him he's hired lol, we want to do another one just off the alfresco and I have a similar idea to yours with the wall (tho a water feature instead) but the hubs doesn't want to lose the outlook of the backyard (like we haven't got enough to see, spoil sport) lol.
I love your kitchen and am sooooo jealous of all that space in your pantry....I need another double pantry to fit all my stuff in! Guess who wants to build again???
I have roea's too in the garden around the pool and they're thriving so yours should do very well, and what a great idea to put them on the retaining wall.
Good luck with the rest of your creations I look forward to seeing what else you do.
    Bye for now. xx

  2. Thanks Michelle, yes it's definitely been too long since my last update! At least things have been happening around here!
I absolutely love my huge pantry and kitchen. A girl can never have too much storage space though can she?
I've also got a water feature in mind along with plenty of other ideas but one thing at a time I guess :)
    See you soon xx

  3. Looks fantastic, the plants you have in will quickly multiply and fill the space, with one plant that multiplied, I ended up getting 30+ babies from it for another garden in our last home and then they filled up too! they are sometimes called moses cradle. Great plant very hardy!
