No more fence

I just happened to go past the house today to see our security fence was down and the site was being cleaned up. The rubbish has been taken away but the dirt is still really uneven.  Not looking forward to all the landscaping that will need to be done :(  I have lots of great ideas but not so much money, haha!

I snapped a couple of quick pics of the front from the car:

House has been cleaned!

On Monday our house was cleaned. The plastic was taken off the stacker doors and benchtops and the windows were given a good clean too. Everything looks so much better cleaned!  I'm loving our splashback and the colours altogether. I've also been busy buying a few accessories (lamps, cushions, and other bits and pieces). We also purchased a new bed for daughter 2 and a lounge for the family room. Can't wait to see the house furnished and decorated.

These aren't the best quality photos, it looked alot better in real life.

Next up, will be a site clean up I think (once this rain stops and the mud dries up a bit) and flyscreens.

Still trying to get driveway quotes and retaining wall figured out.

Nearly finished! !

It feels so surreal to say this...but our house is nearly finished!  This week it's been raining alot but I made a few quick visits after work to peek through the windows. I will try to upload pics tomorrow.

Our splash back is in and looks great.
The rangehood and freestanding oven are installed (can't wait to cook in that baby!) The downlights are finished and the up-down lights on the facade are done. I think they are up too high and would have looked better a bit lower, but maybe I will get used to them.

Our blinds were ordered on Monday. We chose mostly roller blinds with a few shutters and venetians. We're busy trying to get some quotes for driveways.  It's frustrating because out of the 15 or so we've contacted, only a couple have responded.

I'm starting to get really excited now that it is all feeling real.

Painting complete, our benchtop returns, door handles and showerscreens

A lot of little things have happened this week:
hot water system, showerscreens, ensuite mirror (main bathroom mirror not in), toilets, towel rails, benchtop has returned and installed, door handles, door stops, doors hung

A few times this week we've been up to the house to check on progress through the windows, and we've been surprised to find the back door unlocked. That means lots of walk thoughs to see the progress and lots of photo opportunities! Yay!

Mid August- tapware, painting continues, quotes for blinds

This week I have been busy getting quotes on blinds and looking at furniture. I would love shutters throughout but the budget doesn't stretch quite that far unfortunately. It looks like we will probably go with shutters in the dining room and the single window in the garden room and roller blinds in most other rooms. In the bathroom and ensuite we are looking at getting venetians.

The SS let us in on Friday 8th August to let the blinds lady measure up. He was happy for us to stay and take our time and just shut the door behind us when we left, so I had plenty of time to look around and take photos.

The first coat of paint had been done and I really love the colour, Marble Mist. It is a nice neutral beige with a slight grey undertone. The benchtop for the island was gone, after being delivered a few days prior. It must have been damaged. The doors were all painted and tiling complete. The microwave and rangehood are in too.

It was great being inside the house to look at colour samples for the blinds, so I could see how they looked with the walls and cabinets etc. I also took our floor sample to try next to the kitchen and bathrooms. I'm really happy with the colour, it's perfect.

Warning: lots of photos to come!!

We upgraded to the square tapware but I've noticed the wrong bath spout has been installed (it has a round backing plate, not square)

Tiling Completed and Benchtops In

This week the tiles in the laundry, bathroom and ensuite were completed and the internal doors were painted. Today, after thinking no one had been at the house I was pleasantly surprised to see the kitchen and bathroom benchtops were installed! Yay! The kitchen bench is still covered with green plastic, but it's still very exciting.
The laundry tub was also installed this week. I really wish our budget could have extended to include benchtops and cupboards in the laundry, but maybe one day we will be able to do that.
